Papertrey Ink 7th Anniversary - Building Blocks Challenge - Take 2 (Sort of)

So here is the Take 2 for today's challenge!

If you saw the previous post, you know my color choices were intimidating a bit, so I picked again.  (If you missed that post, scroll down and check it out - I really like that card!)

I was all set to go with the True Black, Rasperry Fizz, Spring Moss and Harvest Gold.  Then I didn't have any black card stock, not one piece!  How is that possible??  So I had to use the closest thing I had - Smoky Shadow.

My thought was to stamp in white, then watercolor over.  Then I stamped them in the wrong direction for the sketch.  Ugh!!!

Then, watercolor didn't really work so well on my white ink.  So its just meh.  If I can locate the Stazon white that is floating around here somewhere, I might give it a go again.  We'll see...

Supplies:
Cardstock - Smoky Shadow, White - Papertrey Ink
Stamps - Beautiful Butterflies - Papertrey Ink
Ink - Frost White - Colorbox; Versamark - Tsukineko
Watercolors - Inktense Pencils - Derwert
Twine - The Twinery
Buttons - Papertrey Ink
Other - Black embossing powder

Papertrey Ink 7th Anniversary: Building Blocks Challenge Take 1 (sort of)

I was super excited for today's challenge!  9 building blocks collected from the DTs blogs - great, right.

Until I got to the color selections.  My first try got me Harvest Gold, Rasperry Fizz, Spring Moss and a neutral of True Black.  I decided I would give it a try, but was definitely intimidated enough to roll the dice (or random number generator) again.

The second round of color choices didn't go much better - Dark Chocolate, Enchanted Evening, Hibiscus Burst and Soft Stone as the neutral.  I figured this would probably be easier than the first group with the technique in inlaid die cuts.  I found some patterned papers that roughly matched the colors and die cut them and the Soft Stone with the Happy Harlequin Die.

Here's the result:

I was not prepared to like my pink, navy, gray and brown card, but I kind of love it!

Stay tuned for Take 2!

Cardstock - Soft Stone, Hibiscus Burst, Enchanted Evening
Patterned Paper - UNK from scrap stash

I have been trying (unsuccessfully for the most part) to complete more card challenges.  Life is crazy, blah blah blah…

Tonight, I saw a post on Facebook that Case Study Challenge Blog didn't have many entries for this challenge and had no takers for their Guest Designer spot.

Well, my paint isn't dry on the project I need to finish, so why not work on a fun one while I wait :)

Here's the inspiration-

Runway Inspired Challenge #45 - Tanya Taylor Spring 2014

I love card challenges, but can never seem to find the time to enter them.  Hopefully this will signal the turning of a new leaf!

The inspiration for this Runway Inspired Challenge:

Love it - cool colors and my favorite pattern - stripes!

My project is perhaps a bit literal, but I couldn't help myself - I loved the all those stripes!

Watercolor Flower card

I made this one a while ago, but it caught my eye today.  It is definitely a favorite - clean and simple, and a pop of color.

The Forever and Always stamp set is from Simon Says Stamp.  LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!  The flower was watercolored with Distress reinkers in Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Peeled Paint.  Once it was dry, the sentiment was embossed in white and dots were applied using white Enamel Accents.

Other Supplies:
Cardstock - Soft Stone - Papertrey Ink
Ink - Colorbox Dye Ink (I can't recall the color, but it is a dark gray)
Other - Corner Rounder

I'm trying my hand at a challenge today.  The Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Challenge this week was to make flowers from a non flower die.
I looked through my (far too large) collection and thought I was going to use one of the Papertrey Ink Fruit Fusion dies.  After looking a bit more, I stumbled upon another die and had to give it a try.

Can you goes what the flower petals are?

Limes

Not sure where I've been for the last few months, but it clearly wasn't here!  I need to regain my focus and get myself back together.  I've been trying (albeit unsuccessfully) to work on submissions for publication.  I think I'm going to do one more round for the holidays, then take a break for a while.  I've really enjoyed the work part and stretching myself, but the heartbreak of rejection has taken a bit of the fun out of it.

Here's a fun card.

After seeing some "letterpressed" backgrounds lately, I thought I would give it a try.  This was my first attempt at using a Cuttlebug embossing folder and dye ink together.  It came out a bit messy, but I liked the effect and decided to use it anyway.  I'm definitely going to do more experimenting with this technique!

The sentiment made me smile, hopefully the recipient will like it too!

Cardstock - White, Chartreuse - Papertrey Ink
Ink - Chartreuse - PTI, Rich Cocoa - Tsukineko
Stamps - Margarita and sentiment - Unity Stamp Co
Embossing Folder - Provo
Colored Pencil - Faber Castell

The Swing of Things

After a long holiday trip, I'm struggling to get back into the swing of things.  I've made a few things for a publication call and finished a couple of baby gifts, but haven't gotten around to making anything for fun.

I got a lot of great stamps and dies for Christmas, so today I made a card with some of those.  I was looking to make something to brighten my mood.

The alignment on the pencils needs some work, but overall, I love it!

Supplies:
Cardstock - Khaki (PaperSource), Colors (The Paper Studio)
Stamps & Dies - Happy Trails set (Papertrey Ink)
Ink - Brilliance Graphite Black - Tsukineko
